Create a hollow, lined fabric pumpkin with softly stuffed walls and peek-through openings for small toys.

The pumpkin has a hollow center, and each wall section is individually stuffed to form soft, rounded segments. Small openings are built into selected panels so mini toys can peek out from inside.

The removable lid is padded and finished with a fabric stem, leaf, and optional curly tendrils.

Finished pumpkin dimensions: approximately 20 cm high × 25 cm wide (7⅞ in × 9⅞ in). Final size may vary based on fabric, stuffing, and sewing.

Skill level: Intermediate. The project includes unusual construction methods, such as joining outer fabric and lining simultaneously and creating separate stuffed wall sections. Comfort with the following is recommended: sewing curved seams, working with lining, hand sewing, ladder stitch, turning small fabric pieces, and stuffing and shaping soft toys.

Fabric recommendations: Linen and medium-weight cotton are suitable. For linen, approximately 180–250 gsm is recommended. A lightweight fusible interfacing can be used on the outer linen fabric to add stability and help prevent stretching along the bias. The same fabric can be used for the outer pumpkin and lining, or a contrasting lining fabric can be chosen for a decorative effect inside the pumpkin and around the peek-through openings.

Approximate fabric requirements:

• Outer fabric: 85 × 40 cm (33½ × 15¾ in)
• Lining fabric: 85 × 40 cm (33½ × 15¾ in)
• Fabric for leaf: approximately 20 × 20 cm (7⅞ × 7⅞ in)
• Small fabric pieces for the stem and finishing details

Additional supplies needed: polyester stuffing, sewing thread, strong hand-sewing thread, interfacing if required, pins, fabric scissors, pinking shears, sewing machine, hand-sewing needle, and basic turning/stuffing tools.

The pattern includes openings designed for mini toys approximately 14–18 cm (5½–7 in) tall. Openings can be made slightly smaller for smaller toys. The tutorial uses 4 openings on alternating pumpkin segments, but the number and position can be adjusted.

This pattern and tutorial are for the pumpkin only. The mini mice, hedgehogs, and other toys shown in the photographs are not included and are available separately.

The removable lid is included in the pattern.

Print the pattern at 100% / Actual Size. Check the test square before cutting fabric to ensure the printer has not resized the pattern. Files are suitable for printing on A4 or US Letter paper.
